Last week I was in UAE finishing my Eid outfits since I’ll be larger by the time ramadhan ends. When I was done, I had the time to check out Sephora since we don’t really have the store in my country. I honestly wanted to understand the hype behind Fenty Beauty products so I decided to get couple of items from that brand to test them out.
Fenty Beauty – KILLAWATT Freestyle Highlighter (Trophy Wife)
I wouldn’t go for such a bright metallic golden color but I’ve seen so many people I follow praising it, I thought of trying it out. I don’t know if I can use it as a normal highlighter unless I keep it light but I could use it as an eyeshadow because it has a really pretty shimmer.
Fenty Beauty – MATTEMOISELLE Plush Matte Lipstick (S1ngle)
Lipsticks were the new products in this brand and I was more interested in trying them out. I chose this nude with slight pink shade for an everyday look, it looks too natural and the formula is very creamy and didn’t dry out my lips. It’s also long lasting so consider me a fan, I’m in love with it.
Yves Saint Laurent – Les Sahariennes Bronzer (5 Ambre)
Honestly I wasn’t planning on getting this but the lady working in Sephora was recommending it to me and I tried it on my hand and I liked it. It works well as a contour and it gives that natural look after applying it, it has a really nice powdery matte finish and also blurs the skin so it hides any pores or imperfections. It blends easily and has a slight shimmer which faded after awhile after I tried it out. The package includes a brush and soft sponge which I haven’t used because I’m more used to my own brush collection.
Have you ever tried any of these products ? Let me know what do you think.
Another makeup haul yay ?
Last week I was in UAE, obviously shopping with my husband for Eid clothes since it’s going to be by the beginning of September. On our last day, we were in Dubai Festival City Mall and passed by Sephora. I really hate changing my makeup products if I’m already used to a certain one so change is scary for me, that’s why the first product is my all time favorite …
Kat Von D Tattoo Liner
I don’t know how many times I expressed how much I love this eyeliner (Here, here and oh also here) I can’t live without it. I tried finding an alternative and testing other eyeliners but nothing came close to it. Obviously I had to buy it since it’s not exactly sold in my country so it’s good to keep an extra if I needed it.
Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick – Lolita
I’ve seen so many beauty bloggers mention this liquid lipstick and specifically this shade and I really wanted to try it. It’s actually my first time to try a lipstick from Kat Von D and I like it, not love but like. It’s brown with a hint of purple which gives it a darker shade of nude basically, it’s something new for me somewhat but I can see myself wearing it from time to time.
Huda Beauty Liquid Lipstick – Trendsetter
I originally wanted to get my usual favorite Venus but this one grabbed my attention because it’s the same but also a bit darker going to brown. I can’t really see myself in darker shades but I wanted to try them out, I want to feel bold for going out in such colors so it’ll take me a while to love this shade.
Givenchy Noir Interdit Mascara
I mentioned this mascara before in my previous post, I consider this mascara as my favorite. As I said before, this mascara was recommended to me by a Sephora worker, I just asked her what’s the best mascara here ? and she instantly said this one. She applied it on her lashes and showed me how it looks and I fell in love so fast. It spreads the lashes and doesn’t clump them when you apply it, the wand looks a bit weird than what I’m usually used to plus it bends. It gives the lashes a natural look and lengthen them as well, I wouldn’t say it adds volume because my lashes look completely normal for a casual look.
I hope you enjoyed this post, thank you for reading and have a great day.
Few weeks ago I tried ordering from Sephora website and paid almost $117. A day after placing my order, I logged in to check my order status and it was showing “Unsuccessful Authorization” so they basically cancelled my order without even informing me. I sent them emails regarding this issue and they replied with a long email a day after, and I honestly didn’t understand a word from it because it doesn’t really say the exact reason, they mentioned I’ll get a refund for my cancelled order and I got it recently. After this experience with Sephora, I tried finding an alternative makeup website so I can order from because we don’t really have Sephora store in my country but there are ladies who bring those makeup products and sells them for quite a high price.
I came across this website which sells makeup in decent prices which is called ACW All Cosmetics Wholesale and decided to try it out. They sell high end brands and also drugstore brands so you’ll have various options to choose from however I couldn’t find Kat Von D or Tarte products, hope they add these brands soon. The website is well organized and you can search for products by brand or category, there’s also a ‘sales’ tab of discounted products. I read few reviews of people saying some of their products are fake, mostly mentioning MAC lip products but I can’t say for sure since I didn’t try buying MAC from them yet. Anyway here’s what I bought from this website.
E.L.F. 11 Piece Brush Collection 85015 ($37.50)
I have a cheap makeup brushes collection which I bought ages ago and I seriously needed new ones so I decided to go for E.L.F brushes since I read positive reviews of them before. The brushes came in an authentic E.L.F box and it was well packaged. I love that each brush got it’s own name since I love using wrong brushes for wrong areas, the brushes are really soft and they pick the color really well also great for blending.
RIMMEL Lash Accelerator Mascara – Black 001 ($4.99)
For the longest time I was debating myself into getting lash extensions because they make the eyes look so pretty with lengthy lashes, I decided to try out this mascara because it enhances lash growth just like serums. The mascara wand is thinly shaped so it gave my lashes more of my natural look which is great for my everyday look, I’ve yet to see the effect of the lash acceleration so will post an update probably after few weeks of using it. The mascara came in a clear plastic retail bag which was odd to be honest but the mascara itself seemed unused anyway, maybe that’s my only comment about this website.
The shipping cost was $6.50 and it honestly came very fast.
Overall it was a good online shopping experience, I think the prices are reasonable compared to what I used to pay for makeup brought by the Instagram sellers as I call them. Other than the mascara packaging comment I mentioned earlier, I didn’t have any problem with my order. I’ll make a proper haul post of this website soon so I can check how authentic the products are so stay tuned for that.
