Makeup Haul

dav

I’m trying to remember when was the last time I actually bought makeup, it’s been quite some time. Last year I was pregnant and I didn’t bother wearing makeup during that long journey, so I can safely say my makeup products were expired. After throwing most of them, I finally bought new items that I’m very excited to share my experience in a long-waited makeup post.

Maybelline Superstay 24H Setting Spray

I forgot to include this spray in the picture, I apologize for that. I’ve been a fan of Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray and it’s probably the only one I used ever since I learned how to properly do makeup so trying something new was a huge step for me.  One of the things I hated in Urban Decay’s setting spray would be the smell, I’m glad to say that this spray doesn’t have that smell which I appreciate. The spray locked my makeup the entire time I was at work and may I add it’s also matte-fying, so I’m going to give it 10 extra points for that.

NYX Lip Lingerie (Embellishment & Cashmere Silk)

Now I know I have almost 100 nude shade already but is it ever enough? I can call myself a certified nude lipstick collector from the amount of lipsticks I have. I got two shades from the Lingerie line which are 02 Embellishment and 18 Cashmere Silk. Embellishment is mostly purple but it’s not that intense, as it’s described as a muted purple. I wouldn’t really wear it everyday for example work but I would wear it if I’m going out with my friends if I’m thinking to be a little bit extra and I needed some attention. While Cashmere Silk is mostly beige with a slight visible pink which I can tell you my favorite nude shade and I’ve been wearing it to work recently. The formula of these lipsticks is very creamy and it’s definitely long-lasting, it stayed in place for hours and didn’t smudge after it dried on my lips.

Maybelline Master Contour V-Shape Duo Stick

I’ve never really used sticks for contouring so this would be my first time, and it made me convert. It’s very easy to apply on the areas you want to contour from both sides of the stick and since it’s very creamy I used a contour brush to blend it,  and it came out looking nice on my face.

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Highlighter (Soft & Gentle)

I never thought that I’ll reach the day that I’ll buy something from MAC, I’ve always viewed this brand as luxurious and out of my league. This highlighter was recommended to me by my cousin so I decided to get it in Soft & Gentle shade because it looked more natural for me to apply as I don’t like glowing like I’m one of the vampires from Twilight movies. I am insanely in love with it already, it’s the perfect finish I need for my look as it gives that subtle shimmer and glow.

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Treatment Concealer

I didn’t really depend on concealers before, so now that I have a baby my dark circles are showing generously from the lack of continuous sleep. I chose this concealer because it claims to be a treatment as well for fine lines and dark circles, and it does fulfill that purpose of erasing dark circles under the eyes. It’s easy to blend with a brush or a blender.

L’Oréal False Lash X-Fiber Mascara

I usually avoid those two step mascaras because part of me thinks they are just a glorified normal mascaras that charge more, I only got it because my sister recommended it to me and also I wanted to test out the Fiber side of it. The mascara is double sided, the first step works as a black primer which thickens the lashes with volume then the second step comes to lengthen the lash with fibers and give the lash more of a long lush fix. I think I’m fine with using the first step wand as a mascara and that’s it, the second step adds fibers and it can slowly fall around the eye to be honest so I wouldn’t say it’s the best mascara I tried.

Overall, I honestly missed shopping for makeup like this. Hopefully I’ll keep this momentum and post more makeup related entries, hope you enjoyed this post and have a nice day.

GlossyBox – March 2018

IMG_20180318_231722

Hello April, hello Easter and helloooooo GlossyBox.

I hope you are all doing well. Honestly I wanted to post about Tales of Berseria since I recently beat the game and I wanted to outline my thoughts about it but I noticed that beauty related posts does a lot better which stresses me out since I don’t want to start focusing on numbers and how my posts attract traffic. I’ll post it anyway on Thursday, I still want to post about games.

Anyway here’s my review for March GlossyBox …

IMG_20180318_231836

FORM – Multitask. Leave-In Lotion

A hair product yay. I honestly love the smell of this, it’s very light-weighted. It left my hair softer and more easier to manage when its having the dry days. I would actually go for the full size of this, that’s how much I love it.

Figs & Rouge – Soft Focus Pore Perfect HD + Matte Veil

I didn’t use it, I gave it to my sister so I’m taking her words for it. It did make her skin smooth as a base for her foundation but didn’t help much with the shine and it felt patchy after awhile so she wouldn’t recommend it. Let me know if you got a different result.

IMG_20180318_231922

De Bruyère Beauté – Jumbo Eye Pencil (Bubble 07)

I got this eye pencil before back in November 2016, I still like it. It blends easily and the color is pretty nice and has a nice shimmer.

COVER FX – Perfect Pencil Concealer (Medium)

I never really tried any Cover FX products so I was excited to try this out. It’s very useful for little touchups and defining the brow arch, I wouldn’t say it’s good for larger areas like the circles under the eyes.

IMG_20180318_231954

I forgot to mention, it’s blendable.

IMG_20180318_232027.jpg

Morgan Taylor Nail Polish (Heaven Sent)

Subscribers will receive one of three colors and I got this white one. The formula is a bit too runny, I wasn’t expecting that so it was a messy experience for me. It needs plenty of coats to reach the desired shade since it’s really too sheer, I didn’t like it that much.

Unani il-lumnate Milk Cleanser

This item is labeled as Glossy Fave so this may vary for subscribers but I’m really glad I got this cleanser. I got it before back in October 2016 and it’s been my favorite cleanser for a pretty long time, it leaves my face soft and fresh.

Overall, after my disappointment on February box, this month products redeems itself and I’m back in love with GlossyBox.

Sephora Mini Haul

IMG_20180317_230833

Last week I was in UAE finishing my Eid outfits since I’ll be larger by the time ramadhan ends. When I was done, I had the time to check out Sephora since we don’t really have the store in my country. I honestly wanted to understand the hype behind Fenty Beauty products so I decided to get couple of items from that brand to test them out.

Fenty Beauty – KILLAWATT Freestyle Highlighter (Trophy Wife)

IMG_20180317_231058

I wouldn’t go for such a bright metallic golden color but I’ve seen so many people I follow praising it, I thought of trying it out. I don’t know if I can use it as a normal highlighter unless I keep it light but I could use it as an eyeshadow because it has a really pretty shimmer.

IMG_20180317_231121

Fenty Beauty – MATTEMOISELLE Plush Matte Lipstick (S1ngle)

IMG_20180317_231223

Lipsticks were the new products in this brand and I was more interested in trying them out. I chose this nude with slight pink shade for an everyday look, it looks too natural and the formula is very creamy and didn’t dry out my lips. It’s also long lasting so consider me a fan, I’m in love with it.

IMG_20180317_231248

Yves Saint Laurent – Les Sahariennes Bronzer (5 Ambre)

IMG_20180317_230952

Honestly I wasn’t planning on getting this but the lady working in Sephora was recommending it to me and I tried it on my hand and I liked it. It works well as a contour and it gives that natural look after applying it, it has a really nice powdery matte finish and also blurs the skin so it hides any pores or imperfections. It blends easily and has a slight shimmer which faded after awhile after I tried it out. The package includes a brush and soft sponge which I haven’t used because I’m more used to my own brush collection.

Have you ever tried any of these products ? Let me know what do you think.

GlossyBox – February 2018

IMG_1690

It’s been awhile since I last posted, again I’ve been under the weather and it’s not exactly fun. Also I’ve been ticked off from a French website that took my latest post, translated it fully word by word in Google Translate which showed in the many grammar mistakes their post had, and ignored my emails and comments that I sent to the owner about it. It made me upset but at the same time it validates that I’m getting relevant in the blogging scene ? Maybe I’m just telling myself that, anyway I’m back and hopefully I won’t miss a posting day again. Here’s the review of the February Glossybox …

IMG_1691.jpg

Royal Apothic Scrubbie Exfoliating Lip Treatment

Honestly when I saw a sneak peek of this product last month, I was very excited to try it out because I’ve always wanted to use those sugar lips scrub. It’s sweet and fruity as it’s written “fig” on it but also slightly oily so it keeps your lips moisturized even after washing the sugar off, you can use a lip balm after it or keep it that way.

JJ Young Pore Green Tea Mud Sheet Mask

Now I’m familiar with sheet masks but this isn’t any ordinary sheet mask, it’s a 3D mud mask. The packaging is all in Korean so I applied the mask the way I think it should be and I felt like it’s a bit messy and not exactly easier compared to normal mud masks so I wouldn’t say I liked this product that much.

Luxie Makeup Brush

Aaaaaaand I already got this brush from a previous Glossybox so that was disappointing.

IMG_1692

John Masters Organics Geranium & Grapefruit Body Wash and Milk

This set smells absolutely amazing, I really love it. The lotion gets absorbed really fast and it doesn’t feel greasy or sticky afterwards.

Doucce Gloss Wear Lip Gloss

I don’t really mind getting lip glosses but … This one had my jaw drop because I got the shade 766 (Tasty Mango) and it’s really bright. It’s definitely not my shade and I can’t ever wear such a bright in-your-face lip color. I would say though the formula is really nice and creamy, also it took a long time to wash off so I can safely say it’s long-wearing.

IMG_1694

Overall, I think this is the first time I feel disappointed from Glossybox. I was hoping from something more since it’s around Valentine’s season, I would say the body wash and milk are my favorite products this month.

The Beauty Tag

IMG_1502.jpg

First of all I want to apologize for disappearing this long from blogging, I’ve been sick and for some reason medicine weren’t that effective. Thankfully I’m fine now and I’m so happy that I’m back to my blog.

I’ve been tagged by the beautiful Michala to do this beauty tag, it’s been a while since I did those tags so I thought it would be fun to post.

1. Do you remember your first makeup item?
yes, a vanilla scented lip-gloss and I remember it was in a tube container. It was unnaturally shiny but I thought I looked cool.

2. Describe your perfect mascara. Have you found one that fits your specifications?
One that separates lashes and give them more volume and length. I would say Too Faced Better Than Sex and also L’Oreal Paradise Extatic Mascara are my current favorites.

3. What kind of coverage do you prefer from a foundation?

Medium or light, I don’t mind showing my face imperfections.

4. Favourite high end brand?
Kat Von D

5. What cosmetics brands have you always wanted to try but still haven’t?

Nars, Jeffree Star, Morphe .. Probably more but I can’t think them now

6. Favourite drugstore brand?
Definitely NYX.

7. Do you wear false lashes?

Not always, only on special occasions.

8. Is there any kind of makeup you can’t leave the house without?
I don’t mind going out without makeup actually.

9. What is your most cherished beauty product?
I’m not sure about this, I don’t think I have one

10. How often do you shop for makeup? Do you like to pick up an item here and there, or get lots of goodies at once?
Honestly it’s once in a while because I like staying on what I’m more used to so I buy if that product finishes. Also I receive plenty in Glossybox.

11. Do you have a “beauty budget” or do you spend freely?

I spend not freely but insanely … guilty.

12. Do you utilize coupons, reward cards and sales when you shop for cosmetics?

We don’t really get much of that in shops, except for Shukran points if that counts.

13. What type of product do you buy the most of?
Depends on what catches my eyes, I wouldn’t say I have one specific item.

14. Is there a brand you absolutely can’t stand?
Herbal Essence hair products, I tried multiple shampoos even conditioners but it always made my hair more frizzy more messy more dry.

15. Do you avoid certain ingredients in cosmetics, like parabens or sulfates?

Not really, I tried recently TRESemme Keratin Smooth Shampoo that claims it has less Sulfates. The only difference I noticed is that it doesn’t bubble like normal shampoos but has the same effect and outcome anyway.

16. Do you have a favorite place to shop for makeup?

Not really, it depends on what I want. Some stores sell that brand some don’t.

17. Do you like trying new skin care products or do you keep a certain routine?
Yes, this is why I subscribed to Glossybox. They send out brands I never heard or or tried before so I’m always excited to try them out.

18. Favorite bath and body brand?
Bath and Body Works

19. If you could only buy from one brand, which brand would you choose?

This is hard. I can’t …

20. What brand do you think has the best packaging?
Kat Von D for sure

21. Which celebrity always have great makeup?
Blake Lively, her look is always so effortless and I love how she keeps it natural.

3q7VTmM

22. Do you belong to any online makeup communities?

Not really, I’m not that DEEPLY into makeup.

23. 5 Favorite beauty gurus?
Like I said before I’m not that into makeup to follow beauty gurus, I guess I can say it’s not in my interests list.

24. Do you like multi-functional products like lip and cheek stains?

Yeah I wouldn’t mind using them but they aren’t a priority to me.

25. Are you clumsy in putting on makeup?
Honestly, can you ever do a perfect line on both eyes in one go ? I don’t think so.

26. Do you use makeup base/primer for the eyes?
Nope.

27. How many hair products do you use on a typical day?

I don’t wash my hair daily so when I do wash my hair, obviously I’ll use shampoo then conditioner and sometimes hair mask. After that, while it’s damp I use an oil on the ends.

28. What do you apply first, concealer or foundation?

I don’t really use concealer so foundation.

29. Would you ever consider taking makeup classes?

Not really, like I said it’s not one of my interests and I feel I teach myself how to do makeup the way I’m comfortable in doing.

30. What do you love about makeup?

I guess it’s always nice to have an option to enhance your look.

Anyone who wishes to do this tag.

Glossybox – January 2018

IMG_1323

I wanted to post this earlier but I’ve been scheduling posts in the past two weeks trying to give the post topics more variety and also I wanted some time to use the products that was sent out if I can notice any difference.

IMG_1327

Steve Laurant – Dusty Rose Lip Tint

At first I was a bit intimidated seeing “lip gloss” because the last time I wore a lip gloss was back when I was a teenager and I was afraid it’ll been like those old super shiny lip glosses, see how old fashioned I am ? Thankfully I was wrong and it turned out to be a really nice pink almost natural, I used it after applying liquid lipsticks using my finger and it gave my lips a subtle shine as if my lips were smooth. I love it, it can be used as a cream blush as well since it blends so well.

Theorie – Marula Oil Transforming Hair Serum

I think I mentioned before that I love getting hair products, and this came in a perfect time since the serum I was using just finished. I wish it came in a larger size since I have a very thick hair so 10ml isn’t exactly enough for me. It helps protecting your hair from heat and also adds shine which I noticed.

IMG_1328

Dr Botanicals – Moroccan Rose Superfood Facial Oil

I’m all for the “100% Natural” label, it makes me feel safe of the stuff I put on my skin. Honestly I was afraid it would be thick in consistency since it was an oil substance but it was the complete opposite, it’s very light, smells really nice and it got absorbed quickly.

Lumene Lahde – Pure Dew Drops Hydrating Eye Gel

Lately I haven’t been sleeping well so it shows in my eyes as it gets puffy and dark circles began to appear. It was the perfect time to test this product, so per directions written I used it after cleaning my face couple of times now and I felt that cold sensation under my eyes which feels really refreshing.

Buxom – Big Tease Plumping Mascara

I’m a certified Mascara hoarder, seeing mascaras excites me. If you’re looking for lash separation, great volume and length, this is the mascara for you. It’s amazing I absolutely love it, too bad it’s such a small size.

Overall, loving every product in this box specially the lip tint and mascara.

Glossybox – December 2017

IMG_1317

I finally reactivated my subscription to Glossybox and I’m so happy to receive those boxes again, I really miss this. December box came a little late, in fact came together with January box but I’m not going to complain.

IMG_1320

Laura Geller – Easy Illuminating Stick in Ethereal

I’ve been introduced to Laura Geller products before when I tried Birchbox I’ve been using that highlighter for awhile now so I was happy seeing this stick from this brand. It’s definitely easy to use, just glided on my cheekbones and then I blended it with a brush since I didn’t have a sponge but it worked well. It’s the right amount of shimmer that I need for my everyday look.

Beauty For Real – I-Line 24-7 Eyeliner in Platinum Blonde

I’m not exactly comfortable trying such bold colors for my eye makeup but in the spirit of changing, I’m willing to try it out if I want to look a little bit extra for a girls night out. It’s waterproof so it won’t budge easily.

IMG_1322

Ignore my sophisticated nail polish … design ?

IMG_1321

Show Beauty – Riche Grooming Balm

I love me some hair products, anything that helps with my abused hair makes me happy basically. The formula of this product is really light so it doesn’t leave your hair looking greasy, also it smells nice.

Makeup Drop – Original

I never really understood those silicon thingies, I tried liking them but I couldn’t. Maybe because I’m more old fashioned, I just can’t like them. They have more pros compared to normal sponges as it doesn’t absorb the foundation and can be cleaned easily, but I wouldn’t really use it so I’m going to give it to my sister (I recommend reading Lise’s post about this).

Omorovicza – Queen of Hungary Mist

This was an instant love for me, it smells absolutely amazing. I used it instead of my usual toner before applying my makeup and then after since my makeup setting spray Urban Decay All-Nighter doesn’t exactly have the best scent. I don’t why the scent of this mist is so refreshing and calming, it’s light and I can say rose-y. I could definitely see myself getting addicted to this, I will buy it that’s for sure.

Overall, feels so good to receive this subscription box again as it’s been my favorite for quite sometime. I would say the Laura Geller highlight stick and the Queen of Hungary mist are my favorite products in this box. Have you ever used those products before, let me know what do you think.
