Games to Revisit in November

Continuing the new post series I started in October of games I recommend trying each month. I’ll try to limit each post of this series to three games from different consoles with a theme, for last month I chose more horror games because of the Halloween season so this month I’ll be choosing RPGs with great music.

Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure (PSOne)

One of my all time favorite JRPGs ever, I love everything about this game.

The game centers around the adventures of Cornet, a girl who can talk to puppets and has a magical horn that grants wishes, and Kururu, a puppet that has the heart and soul of a human. The majority of the game is about Cornet and Kururu trying to save Prince Ferdinand (whom Cornet is in love with) after he has been turned to stone by the self-proclaimed “most beautiful witch in the world.”The witch, Marjoly, also has a crush on the prince and had meant to put him to sleep, but messed up the spell and accidentally turned him to stone.

Sounds like a cheesy girly story I know but it’s quite entertaining. The combat system is turn-based but doesn’t really last that long so it’s not as challenging as the typical JRPG would go. Now the game is titled as “A Musical Adventure” so it has few theatrical musical cut-scenes  and they are so addictive, I memorize every song in this game and I still sing them till this day.

Ni No Kuni (PS3)

If you know me well, you’ll know that I absolutely love Ghibli Studios movies and anything related to it so this game is had be in this list.

Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, a heart-warming tale of a young boy named Oliver, who embarks on a journey into a parallel world in an attempt to bring his mother back from the dead. Along the way, Oliver makes new friends and adopts many of the wonderful creatures that inhabit the world, raising them to battle other creatures on his behalf as he takes on formidable enemies. Developed by LEVEL-5 with animation by the legendary Studio Ghibli, Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch combines beautiful animated visuals, masterful storytelling and a sweeping score into an epic role-playing adventure like no other.

The game itself is like a Ghibli movie and I love how the graphics is like an anime but also 3D, it’s one of the things I focused on in this game. The music of this game is absolutely amazing and I would say my favorite is the World Map theme it really shows Ghibli element infused within the track.

Persona 3 (PS2)

After choosing two games on a mellow side of tunes, I had to choose something with more of an upbeat vibe.

Persona 3 follows a group of high school students trying to cope with, understand and accept death in a world surrounded by it, as well as find their own reasons for living. They form a group called SEES in order to investigate the Dark Hour, a mysterious time period between one day and the next that few people are aware of. During the Dark Hour, SEES explores Tartarus, a large tower containing Shadows, creatures that feed on the minds of humans. To fight the Shadows, each member of SEES is able to summon a Persona, a manifestation of their inner self.

Suicidal emo protagonist with blue hair .. yup I’m already thinking of our children’s names. Persona 3 is my favorite from all Persona games, the story is well-intact and of course the music is really addictive. I always use the OST of this game whenever I’m working, it keeps me alert but still entertained.

I hope you enjoyed this list of three games I recommend checking out for November, let me know your favorite RPGs with great music.

    1. I was torn in adding more games like these to this list but I said it’s better if I limit to three each time because I can keep this series going. I love these two games as well :p
